Alabama Relapse Treatment – Methods and Results

Elite Rehab Placement is a no-cost, full service, drug and alcohol rehab assistance provider. Our mission is to help you, or a loved one, to find the right addiction treatment center for your specific needs. We work with several of the top rehab centers in the country and are able to deal with both them, and your insurance provider, on your behalf, to make sure that you’re placed in the best facility for your specific situation.
Usually, a person will enroll in rehab once it is clear their addiction is out of control.

Rehab provides the medications and counseling to get people through the challenging stages of withdrawal. Hopefully, recovering addicts will follow up with aftercare to remain sober once their program is completed. Unfortunately, relapse happens to the best of them on occasion.

For any addiction, the million-dollar question is when a relapse will occur. Recovering addicts should always keep a positive attitude and hope for the best. Some never experience relapse. Others do. Many addicts will relapse multiple times, only to start their rehab program over again. Addicts should never give up on themselves, and neither should family members or others give up on them. If an addict falls of the wagon, it is likely that it will happen less and less as they continue to make the physical and mental adjustments toward sobriety.

Initially, the patient’s addiction is treated to help them overcome withdrawal symptoms. Addiction is often described as a chronic disease and can be compared with high blood pressure, diabetes, and asthma.

Causes for Relapse

Relapse is caused by triggers. A trigger can be stress, an emotional factor, a friend, an event, or a situation. Events that lead to relapse are, of course, vastly different for each individual. Among the most common triggers are stress, anxiety, depression, and frustration. People turn to drugs or alcohol as a coping mechanism. Addicts learn to avoid places like bars where they used to drink. Parties should be avoided where drugs or liquor are flowing. It may also be time to form new, positive friendships. Rehab and counseling sessions focus on helping people realize how their thoughts and actions helped them arrive at their present state.

Recovering from Relapse

Relapse simply means it is time to get back into treatment. A loved one or friend that has relapsed still needs the attention and support of those who care. Relapse can occur when individuals avoid support groups as well. Groups like Narcotics Anonymous (NA) and Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) are well known to provide the kind of caring support that addicts need to help guide them through relapse temptations. Sobriety may not be easy, but if recovering addicts remain faithful to themselves and their program, they can keep their temptations under control.

If you have suffered a relapse, waste no time in responding to the situation. Never wait several days or even weeks. Never be too hard on yourself either. You fell! Now it is time to pick yourself up and get back in the saddle. It is time to double your efforts and get back into rehab. Keep in mind that regardless of the number of times a person slips back into relapse, the victory of sobriety is always within grasp.

Finding Purpose

Purpose is an invaluable gift in life. Along with all the information and knowledge gained from rehab, purpose is something that can help individuals overcome the urge to relapse.
